Passions over health care reform |
Crazy Inc.
Another exciting weekend in DC. The Tea Party 'movement' returned to the Capital to demand 'Nancy' listen their complaints about socialism, communism, bankruptcy, "Obamacare" and more. Add a few dozen "Don't Tread on Me" flags, joker posters, and underaged children watching mom and dad act like children together and you have the protests at the Capital on Saturday.
According to FOX News, some 25,000 protestors descended on the Hill on Saturday. I would like to see their tally because only a couple thousand (3000?) were visible around the Hill by the afternoon.
Highlight of the protests:
Witnessing the lowest denominator in society dressed up in costumes using vulgar terms (N-, F-, H-., etc.) to describe members of Congress in front of their children. How quickly people cast stones while failing to witness the irony of their actions. To think they were calling Congress immoral!
I am all for enabling people to voice their opinions (especially about legislation before Congress); however, I would ask that they do so in a slightly more respectful manner (maybe drop the obscenities as a start).
As for my opinion on health care, the system is broken and needs to be fixed. If we don't start somewhere, it is never going to get better. If I thought there would be the slightest chance of another bill passing, I would encourage it. However, the likelihood of us touching health care in the next decade is near improbable. So the bill is flawed (aren't they all), but this one has more benefits than the dissenters (many of whom already have Medicare from my observations) would like us to believe.
