    A walk in our shoes

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     acapicchioni is a freelance journalist and photographer who divides her time between Miami, Florida, and San Marino, an enclave in Italy that claims to the the smallest republic in the world.
    - dsashin, CNN iReport producer

San Marino is the smallest and oldest repubblic in the world. It is only 60 sq km and it's population is only 30,000.

The main economic resource is tourism, geographically it is in Italy on the Adriatic coast in front of Croatia.

The official language is italian and the currency is Euro.

San Marino boasts a record ; It has the  the highest life expectancy in the world after Japan. Infact while in the United States the average life span is 76 , here it is at least 88. I would personally say much more judjing from the many   elderly I quite often see around the town.

    The secret of this longevity?

It  could be be the red wine that everyone drinks or the free healthcare that everyone is entitled to. Here anyone con go whenever they want to their personal doctor and get their medical examinations and tests.

So do you want to live longer? Come to San Marino.
