Walk in my Shoes - Charming Franconia
Grüss Gott. My name is Liz Kraft, and today I invite you to take a walk in my shoes. We're here in the thousand-year-old town of Neunkirchen am Brand (okay, it's 940 to be exact), in Franconia, Germany. I love walking the streets of Neunkirchen amidst the half-timber buildings that form its center. My favorite stopping point is the local bakery, just next to one of three of the fortified towers dating back to the Middle Ages. But Neunkirchen holds a special place in my heart. Here's why...
Both my husband and his father grew up here. And just around the corner, in front of his childhood home, is the spot where we were engaged. His brother was married right here in this 14th century church. So my connection with Neunkirchen is very personal... and people here are warm, kind and sincere.
If you're planning a visit, the best time to come is in the Summer, when windows everywhere are trimmed with brightly colored geraniums and days are long.
