A Minute on the Texas Mountain Trail
Walking for a minute on Hwy 54 just 12 miles north of Van Horn, TX. The 1940s WPA Guide to Texas called this stretch of road, "weirdly beautiful," and it still is. Largely untouched, the land is still wild. Most mornings and evenings you can here coyotes singing to each other. This was taken very near the site of the 1910 JP Bean ranch. Hwy 54 is the connecting road from I-10 to the Guadalupe Mountains National Park and is on the original Texas Mountain Trail, but most freeway drivers never see the beauty just north of their route.
