Walking on Capitol Hill as Tea Party protestors rally against proposed health care reform bill
For CNN's ireport weekend assignment, I decided to walk for a minute on Capitol Hill during the weekend of the health care reform vote in Congress.
Walking on Capitol Hill, I came upon thousands of Tea Party protestors rallying to "Kill the Bill". Having worked as a legislative advisor in the Senate for 10 years, I decided to take a walk on the lawn of the Capitol to get another view as the protestors expressed their concerns about the proposed health care reform legislation being considered by Congress.
I also saw President Obama's motorcade ride by as he left the Capitol to return to the White House. It was interesting to see many of the protestors who were shouting against the legislation still cheering in favor for President Obama as he rode by them.
The House of Representatives remained in session through the weekend and held a vote late on Sunday night passing the health care legislation by a vote of 219 yeas to 212 nays.
