Give Peace a Chance.. Anti-War/Peaceful Protest
People came together on the streets of Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Washington to share their passion and beliefs.. "Get the Troops out of Afghanistan and Iraq" This Anti- War/Peace protest was held in the heart of Hollywood. The protestors gathered at Hollywood and Vine, rallied, and then marched to Grauman's Chinese Theatre where there was a second stage. Anti-war speakers and local musician Bambu all stirred the crowd further. It is time to go out and make a difference.
I was fortunate to speak with Ron Kovic, author of "Born on the 4th of July". Paralyzed in the Vietnam war, he speaks against the tragedies of war from a first hand experience. His is strong in his conviction to stop the war and bring our troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq. Ron is not a bitter man. He shares his thoughts and heart freely. He is making a difference and will continue to fight the fight against war.
As I stared at a sign of PEACE made out of bullets, I was made aware that staring at the same art piece was my fellow iReporter Marie Sager. We shared a hug and took in the magnitude of this rally. I had just returned back to town so it was Marie who let me know about the rally that morning.
