Boat Explodes And Sinks In Maryland on July 4th
Fire department and Coast guard units were dispatched to the report of a boat explosion and fire in Selby Bay on Maryland's South River at around 3:13 PM and discovered that a 35 foot motor boat had exploded and was fully engulfed in fire.
A man and a woman escaped from the boat and were picked up by another boater who took them to shore to a waiting ambulance. None of the injuries were life-threatening. No one else was on the boat.
Anne Arundel County fire boats took about a half hour to bring the fire under control, after which, the burned boat sank into 17 feet of water.
The incident is under investigation.
