This iReport is part of an assignment:
Sound-off |
protesters gone too far
July 4, 2008 at Monticello, 72 new citizens waited to listen to President and give their Oath of Naturalization. When President bush took the podium, a group of protesters stood up and began chanting "impeach Bush" and other kind of disrespecting comments. One woman even ran towards the president before secret service got a hold of her. The protesters were handcuffed and escorted outside of the event.
However, there is a place and time to speak out against President Bush. Come on it is these 72 people day and these protesters ruin it. This day was a day when they will have the freedom to vote, feel free and freedom of speech just like you.
So was that really called for to come and ruin someone's day when it is one of their biggest day of their lives? I just hope that they don't think that all of the other Americans are like them, because we are not. We welcome the new citizens with open arms, just like President Bush said. We welcome you to enjoy the feeling of being free. God Bless America
