    Weekend assignment: Past and present

    Canada House, D-Day, Juno Beach

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     FlashThunder photographed the Canada House on Juno Beach in Normandy, France, which survived D-Day bombardment. "I am very passionate about WWII and feel that the sacrifice that was made by our countrymen on June 6, 1944 should not be forgotten and that this 'past and present' assignment would be an opportunity to demonstrate that," he said.
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

Here is an image of the iconic Canada House on Juno Beach, Normandy taken on D-Day and my photo taken on a visit there in the summer of 08. The heavy bombardment of the beach took it's toll on the house but it survived along with the original family that owns the house to this day.
