Bishkek Mass Demonstration
Thousands of people are marching to the city centre, passing the presidential palace. Loud whistles accompany the marchers. Women and even small children can be seen walking together. All thechildren are trying to get home from school but the public transport system has completely collapsed. All the shops are shut. Under the spring rain cars are burning and ambulences have been overturned and trolleybuses halted.
There is apprehension and suspense in the air. An expectation of change, of better times ahead. Equally there is fear, as gunshots are heard from the city centre....
