Only 100 days left for the Mayaguez  2010 Caribbean Games.  There has been much commotion and  preparation within the last 5 years to prepare the western side of  the island: new roads built, old roads fixed; old sports facilities torn  down, new ones built.

This region is called Porta Del Sol, and extends through  17  municipalities, from the Atlantic to the Caribbean.   Many of the games  will be held in Mayaguez, but many events will also be spread out  throughout the island.
31 countries will participate with Cuba abstaining.
Over 250,000 visitors are anticipated for this event starting July 17  and lasting through August 1.
