Red Shirts Versus Thai police at BTS ploenchit

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     msaltz is an American who’s been living in Thailand for four years working as a teacher who says: "We get used to protests in Bangkok, so I didn't think too much of it when I was on my way... but it was obvious that something was about to happen. My buddy and I both took video from up on the BTS. The standoff seemed fairly relaxed and many tourists were around. However, as I left the area, I noticed truck after truck of red shirts headed to the area. A couple hours later I heard about the crackdown."
    - zdan, CNN iReport producer

I took these photos at BTS Ploenchit.  At first, it seemed like there'd be  a showdown between Reds and police, but the police later retreated after I left.  A  few hours later, street fighting broke out near Victory Monument.
