Weekend assignment: How far can $10 go?

    Ticket to Ride 25 cents!

This has to be the cheapest ride in town!  The price only 25 cents one way!  This entertainment find gave me inspiration to start out this weekends assignment for iReport, "How Far Can Ten Dollars Go?".  I now have $9.50 left, so will continue my day and see what great finds are in store for me.  :)

Angel's Flight opens at 6:35am and closes at 10:00pm, seven days a week.  It's located between 3rd and 4th on Hill Street downtown Los Angeles.

Angel's Flight is the shortest railway in the world and has been around off and on since 1901.  They've had two locations, but only a block apart, always in the same area.

As a little girl, I was fortunate to ride on the first Angel's Flight location.  In the 50's the fare was only a nickel.  Actually, in an opening episode of "Dragnet" (popular crime drama on television, original run 1951-1959), Jack Webb did a voice over - "for five cents ride the shortest railroad in the world."

This funicular railway is also recorded as a Historical Landmark in the National Register of Historic Places.

It just recently reopened in March of this year.

This was definitely 50 cents well spent.  :)

Note:  Update on the $9.50 remaining: purchased more water, batteries, matches and candles to add to my earthquake preparedness stash!  :)  You can never have enough.

This was a fun project, thanks for the assignment.
