    JMU riots

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     This iReporter told me, 'This is the annual block party at James Madison University at the end of the year.' He said the crowd swelled to thousands. 'People were throwing beer bottles around in the crowd for no reason. When I started the video, people were aiming their bottles at a group on the porch and trying to hit them. Eventually as you can see, someone on the porch throws a lawn chair into the crowd. The crowd eventually broke several windows on the house and started to knock down the deck. I stayed for about 30 minutes and noticed 3 different people with severe cuts. One person ran past me with holding his eye with blood running down his face. I decided to leave when I beer bottle smashed on the back of someone's neck about 10 feet in front of me. About three hours later the police showed up with tear gas and riot gear. By the time the police showed up, the crowd was almost all gone with less than a thousand people still in the area.' He went on to say, 'Once they shot tear gas, the drunken crowd lit dumpsters on fire and pelted police.' Check out these photos from another iReporter to get a feel for what was going on at the scene.
