Neti Helped Knock Out Chronic Sinusitis...
I've always had allergies and about 12 years ago, they hit critical mass. I was suffering from chronic sinusitis and my doctor was considering a 'rotor rooter' job to clean out the cumulated debris in my sinuses. Fortunately, we chose to wait and while I was waiting, I discovered Neti at healthandyoga.com.
I flushed my sinuses daily for a week, and it was clear that they were clogged. Finally, after several days had passed, the biggest, foulest, brown 'loogie of death' came out of my head. At first I thought I was choking because this mass had been softened and dislodged and was slipping out. It was too large to move out through my nose so it slipped down the back of my throat and I coughed it up. I was horrified, but also relieved to have it out. It was the result of years of sinus infections--- layers upon layers of old infected mucus that had simply been dried up with medications.
Now, I know this sounds gross, but it's the truth, and you asked about Neti. I don't use mine every day but my whole family knows how to use it and we bring them out when necessary. We use the large stainless steel variety as pictured, and we use warm, purified water and a pinch of sea salt (the water should be as salty as your tears) as a solution. I think they are an important part of any home medicine cabinet. Used correctly, they can help keep your sinuses clean and healthy.... I haven't had a sinus infection in years!
