James Cameron on Avatar Blu-ray and DVD Release... An Earth Day Celebration

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Pixel interviewed James Cameron on March 23, at a special screening event for the DVD release of "Avatar." She said she enjoyed talking to James Cameron and that she could have asked many more questions, because he was very responsive.

The much awaited Avatar Blu-ray and DVD will be released globally on April 22nd, the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. At a press screening in the Hollywood Hills James Cameron discussed his mission of bringing awareness to environmental issues. Cameron is hoping, "to elevate consciousness and help get the things done that need to get done". James Cameron's love of nature is what inspired the movie. "The whole point" Cameron said, "Avatar was supposed to celebrate the natural world and how wonderful it is on Earth". They took their inspiration from right here on earth to create all the alien plant forms and creatures in the film. The result is clearly spectacular and met with box office success. Avatar is the highest grossing film in history. We can be glad that technology caught up with James Cameron's brilliance.
The care and precision that went into making the Blu-ray and DVD is incredible. Shot by shot Avatar was examined to bring the Blu-ray and DVD to life at the highest quality possible. Cameron said, "The goal was to preserve the color and vibrancy in both formats". They made sure the color reproduction was exactly correct.  As another bonus for the viewers, Fox is foregoing any type of trailers and advertisement. "The Blu-ray and DVD is going to be purely movie",  Jon Landau states.

Mike Dunn, President, worldwide, 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment said, "I had to go to Pandora before I really recognized  the oak tree in my front yard for what it was. It's a new tree to me"

With the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and the Release of Avatar Blu Ray; maybe we can all look a little closer at what surrounds us... and take a harder look at how we can make a difference to preserve and protect our Planet Earth
