Bailout outrage |
Saving can be fun!
We put in a reservation for a smart car in March of 2007,
not to save gas but because we saw the cars in Europe
and thought that they would be a cute, handy, commuter and town car. While we
still own and drive other vehicles, one of us drives the smart car to work
every day of the work week. I got it today! We also use it whenever
possible on the weekends. We can't carry 8 foot long 2 by 4s in it but it will
hold our weekly groceries (for 2). It's very maneuverable, gets a lot of
attention and is always fun to drive as well as being a comfortable and capable
highway vehicle at least for short trips. Only the lack of cruise control
limits even that. It cost about $ 16,000, gets 36 MPG commuting and 44 MPG in
mixed driving and has a top speed of 90. It's got an automatic transmission, AC,
a panoramic roof, leather seats and a
stereo radio/CD player with IPod adapter. We couldn't be happier with it and
saving as we go!
