Arizona immigration showdown |
Common Sense
- zdan, CNN iReport producer
We are a nation of laws, plain and simple. It is necessary to enforce our laws in order to maintain the peace and tranquility of our nation. I do not find this law to be unconstitutional or wrong. If you entered this country legally or were born here you should be proud to carry that proof with you everywhere you go. If you aren't, you should possibly reconsider your reasons for being in the United States.
I have been all around the world and there is no country that I have been to that is as forgiving or kind about its undocumented guests. Try going to a country in the Middle East or even to Mexico without having your visa in order. It will not be tolerated, I can assure you of that. You will be treated as if you were an invader of the worst order and the conditions in their jails are far worse than you could ever dream of in the US.
Until the US Government actually starts doing its job to enforce the laws, protect the border and the nation, and enact immigration reform based in the 21st Century, I support the Arizona's law and others like it. The states need to fill the void until the deadlock in Washington is unlocked.
