Up to speed with Robin Meade

    Why I love NASCAR

Although I no redneck, as some say this is redneck racing, but I have loved NASCAR when I bought a 1997 Chevy Monte Carlo in the year 2000.  That's the time that I heard about Dale Earnhardt, Sr.

I would be shocked to hear later on of his tragic speedway accident at Daytona in 2002.

I try to watch as many NASCAR races on TV, but kind of wishing I was at one of the tracks, like the California Motor Speedway in Fontana, CA or the Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona.

However, watching it on TV gives you every kind of angle, plus interviews with the drivers, crew chiefs, to name a few.

I go 50/50 on both.  The races are fun to watch.

Just recently, I took delivery of a 2007 Chevy Impala, which are now among the cars driven on the speedways.

The Indy 500 races used to be really prestigious.

Now NASCAR has grown as a giant in popularity.  There's always more room for sponsors and advertizers on the NASCAR vehicles than what the Indy vehicles can contain.

My favorite driver is now Jimmy Johnson (#48), who drives the Lowes car.  Jimmy hails from my hometown of San Diego.
