    Sound-off

    Guiding LIght

Philippine Presidential Candidate Sen. Dick Gordon is interviewed by the local media before a Miting de Avance in Quezon City, Metro Manila.

Gordon, the man behind the success of Subic Bay Freeport which hosted the APEC, the Philippine tourism campaign WOW Philippines, the author of the automated elections law, and a Red Cross volunteer for 43 years is seen as the guiding light of country in desperate need of change.

"What this country needs is not a change of men, but a change in men," says Gordon, presidential standard bearer of Bagumbayan Volunteers for a New Philippines.

Gordon is also credited for turning his home town of Olongapo into a model city and for saving countless lives as volunteer of the Philippine Red Cross, which he is currently the chair of.

Sadly, even if he is most qualified local media have chosen to publish and focus on the candidates who are most popular for their affiliation to their deceased parents or countless campaign jingle TV and radio spots.

Election day is on May 10.
