    Chick-A-Doodee - My Sister's Pampered Pet Chicken

    Photos  by Dr. Kate Saunders

Chick-A-Doodee has been a part of the Saunders family of Louisiana for about a  year now. The pictures were taken at different times, though the  swimming pool adventure took place last week.

Chick-A-Doodee  follows  four-year-old Joshua Saunders everywhere he goes. If any house window is  left open, Chick-A-Doodee will find it and come inside. She enjoys  cuddling with Joshua on his bed as well as sitting on any available lap  for movie time. Popcorn is one of her favorite treats, second only to  bugs!

Chick-A-Doodee generally lays one egg every day, but during  bug season sometimes she surprises the family with an extra. Though eggs  have been left as presents on the couch, on Joshua's pillow and in the  garage, for the most part Chick-A-Doodee leaves them in her very own  chick-gloo... a dog house on a tall post to keep her safe from  predators.

Chick-A-Doodee's family also has 2 horses, 2 dogs and a  cat, all of which get along just fine, though Chick-A-Doodee is the only  one who frequents the swimming pool.

The Saunder's Family will NOT be eating Chick-A-Doodee. Only her  eggs. Kate Saunders used to have a parrot that she loved very much (My dog and I were inadvertently responsible for its untimely death), but  Chick-A-Doodee is much quieter than the parrot was!
