Who knows when the first horses were domesticated and used for human benefits.... But in Kras, a western territory of Slovene republic, an organized horse-farm in a small village, named Lipica, was built up in 1580's by the Habsburgh's royal family, also kings of Spain. Andaluzian and Karst's horses resulted in a new genus of horses - a lipizaner ones. His characteristics were very  pleased to the owners: it was a gentle,well educated and nice looking horse. His reproduction proces was very carefully controlled by the best experts in Europe of the time until nowadays. Every new-born horse is like a new pearl in a necklace of a Lipizan-familly tree.

Every year - more than a half of Century - the Authorities of Lipica and the Republic of Slovenia organize a parade of all the lipizaner horses in Slovenia. The one-day-festivity takes place at the same place- in Lipiza.
