5 Reasons Why You Should Consider Moving to Winter Park, FL

Winter Park is a charming city in Central Florida with a rich sense of culture, a place normally shadowed by Orlando's best known attractions and touristy scenery, but Winter Park holds a special aura most tourists are not familiar with.

The city has strived to become the "Southeast's Premier Urban Village," and has been highly successful. This beautiful, temperate, affordable city is a wonderful place to work, play, and raise a family. The opportunities for recreation are extraordinary, and the temperate climate encourages outdoor activity all year round. Although the city is growing, it remains affordable to most families. Here's 5 reasons why:

    1. Safety First
: The city has a low crime rate, and is able to maintain a small-town atmosphere, while having all the privileges of a big city at its fingertips. Most homes are tucked back in very private, desirable and quiet neighborhoods with mature oaks across the street that offer additional privacy and great views.

    2. Low Unemployment Levels: While Winter Park unemployment rate is ONLY 3.9%, the national unemployment rate stands at 9.7%. According to Yahoo Real Estate statistics, the city has had a recent job growth of 6.1%, and experts predict that employment levels will continue to rise at least 23.1%.

    3. Highly-Ranked Education Institutions: The school system in Winter Park is solid, with test scores reflecting the hard work of both the teachers and students. There are also a number of private school options, for instance: Trinity Preparatory School, St. Margaret Mary Catholic School, Covenant Christian School and St. John Lutheran School.  Winter Park is not only perfect for families but students as well. Rollins College—recognized as one of the top rated liberal arts colleges in the southeast—, the University of Central Florida, Stetson University,  Crealdé School of Art and Full Sail—one of the premier media arts colleges in the nation—are just some of the choices that offer post-secondary education to area residents, but also contribute to the business and cultural communities of the area.

    4. Art and Culture Oriented Community: The city already has been successful in creating a cultural feel with many attractions in this arena. There are museums like Cornell Fine Arts Center Museum, Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, and the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens. The The Rachel D. Murrah Civic Center of Winter Park offers AARP meetings, bible studies, Rotary Club, yoga, and more.

    5. Dining and Shopping Diversity
: French, Italian, Chinese, American, steak houses, seafood restaurants, fine dining and casual eateries are all in abundance in this charming city. For the freshest fruits and vegetables all year, the Winter Park Farmers' Market can't be beat. Finally, its boutiques, antique shops, cafes and spas make the perfect combination for everyone who wants to enjoy outdoor activities all year-round.

Residents are attracted to Winter Park by the charm of the oak-lined brick streets, the beautiful chain of lakes, the numerous art and antique galleries in the Winter Park’s downtown corridor as well as incredible casual and fine dining restaurants, sidewalk cafes, fine art, historical museums and wonderful shopping districts. Come see for yourself. Find out why so many families are moving to one of Florida's best kept secrets.
