    New Orleans streets flood

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ljmagnuson told me, 'There was water ponding everywhere around that area, and the police blocked off the streets in both areas for several hours until the rain slowed down enough for the pumps to catch up getting it out of the streets.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

These photos were taken around 10:30 this morning right after several inches of rain caused heavy street flooding in New Orleans. The storm passed through about a half hour before I took the photos bringing with it heavy rain and continuous lightning. The flooding caused police to shut down manly of the streets in the downtown area. The one I drove down had almost a two feet of water in places. The police told me one of the pump stations on Broad street

    had been inundated.
