New Yorkers vs Tourists: Divided Sidewalks?

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     sjunat55, a longtime New Yorker, spotted this apparent art installation on Fifth Avenue during his way home from work Wednesday. 'I thought it was hilarious,' he said. He spotted at least one couple walking along the tourist side, but he said they seemed to be having fun with it.

Here in New York City we have exclusive bike lanes in many avenues and streets.

Herald Square, Times Square, and Madison Square all have pedestrian areas, with 34th Street soon to follow.

But someone with a  sense of humor, or maybe not, took it a step forward.

Next to one of the city's architectural landmarks, the Flatiron Building, on Fifth Avenue, between 23rd and 22nd street, a line was drawn on the sidewalk: tourists to one side, New Yorkers to the other.

Here are some photos of the new "divided sidewalk" in New York City.

Art project? Joke? Or a New Yorker rushing to work tired of groups of tourists in his/her way? Offbeat New York City.
