    Tour of California.. Final Day

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     "A lot of people had been camped out all day to watch all four laps of the race," said Pixel. It really was a lot of fun. It felt like I was in the old West.
    - jsarverCNN, CNN iReport intern

Tour of California was from May 16-23. The race consisted of 8 stages that stretched from Northern to Southern California. This is the largest cycling event in America, Lance Armstrong had to drop out of the race on May 20th because of a crash while riding in the Tour.

I was able to catch the tail end of the race on Mulholand Dr. I saw the third lap and then continued to walk on to find the best spot possible, to catch the 4th and final lap of the race. All roads were closed, so traveling on foot was the best option. We walked a distance not knowing what we would find. The result was worth the walk! A winery with it's doors open and wine pouring for all spectators, over the age of 21. I qualified.
Cornell Winery and The Old Place. Over 70 years old, home of a very unique crowd, which included locals like; Steve McQueen, Jason Robards, Burgess Merideth, Sam Peckinpaw and many others. I felt I had entered the old west. California at it's coolest.
People gathered  to cheer the cyclists on!! A really exciting sight, as they whipped by at a speed barely able to catch on camera. Bells rang and a unique sound in the background, a  Didgeridoo. Handmade by local artist William Thoren. A  peacock roamed the grounds adding to the colorful festivities!
The winners of the Tour were: 1. Michael Rogers AUS, 2. David Zabriskie USA, 3. Levi Leipheimer USA
