Southwest Florida Reports from 'Tween Waters Inn: No Effects of Oil Spill on Captiva Island

(May 25, 2010) On the Gulf of Mexico at 'Tween Waters Inn on Captiva Island, Florida, you'll see no effects of the oil spill. This is the same for miles and miles along the Southern Gulf Coast of Florida. The miles of sugar sand beaches and millions of shells are still intact, still bleached white and untouched and begging for a visitor to stay a while.

Recently, the Governor of Florida issued a state of emergency for the area, but in taking a look around the beach of Southwest Florida, it's obvious that there is no state of emergency, yet.

The area tourism leaders are concerned about the effects the oil spill may have, if it should hit, but similarly, hotels, resorts and attractions here are positive that it is safe to book a Vacation — everyone is open for business and not anticipating any problems this summer.

The barrier islands of Sanibel and Captiva are far from the Gulf Stream and any damange the oil spill is currently causing  and industries here want to make certain it is known that here, we still have untouched natural beaches. The Governor may have issued a state of emergency for precautionary reasons, and that is no light matter, but the area resorts and attractions, like the 'Tween Waters Inn, viewed in the video report, want to make certain that visitors around the globe hear their cry, "We're open for business" and it's still just another day in paradise in Florida.
