    Is Jesse Jackson relevant?

    Caught Up

Talking tough (cutting someone) and making derogatory remarks behind someone's back can't be used to make an character assessment.  Jesse Jackson was simply running off at the mouth.  He doesn't believe Barack is talking down to blacks and neither does he have a desire to physically harm him.  Jesse was caught muttering something under his breath the same as children are caught muttering by their parents.

People, even Jesse Jackson, oftentimes say things that makes themselves sound big and tough.  These people are talkers and aren't going to hurt a fly.  The frequency and sincerity of Jackson's apologies shows his sorrow and regret.  He has convinced me that he would fall on his knees and kiss the him of Barack's garments if he could.  He's worked hard for civil rights and don't want his loose lips to sink Barack's chance.

Black people understand the word game(s).  Most share Barack's sentiment and don't believe he's talking down to Blacks.  The words should be said and have been spoken by others such as Bill Cosby.  Such strong statements are needed to get attention. Blacks aren't confused and don't misunderstand Jesse Jackson's rhetoric.

Barack saying sweetie to a female reporter was distorted as a put down to females.  Sure, he regrets saying it, but it doesn't change the fact that it was said.  Black people understand this word and wouldn't consider it insulting.  Barack granted this reporter a personal interview when he returned to the city.  This fact was reported as a 5 second sentence after a commercial break.  I personally would have appreciated a better report from the news media.

Jesse Jackson's remarks don't speak for Black people and obviously doesn't speak for himself either.  Talking loud and saying nothing at the wrong place will cause Black people to think twice about the Reverand.  Jesse Jackson's infidelity has placed one scar in his integrity and this incident can deepen the wound.  Jesse will continue having a relevance in the political landscape.  He's a fighter and he's still capable of accomplishing great things.
