    The Relevance of Jesse Jackson

    Is Jesse Jackson relevant?

    The short answer:  No.

The long answer:  Jesse Jackson was relevant when he was marching with Dr. King in the sixties.  He was relevant in a time when black people were viewed as animals, and Civil Rights were not quite extended to them.  He was relevant when he had to eat in the kitchen of a restaurant.  Money and greed have since taken all of the relevance from the good reverend.

Jesse Jackson has successfully jumped on every racial bandwagon since the eighties.  When a rich black person needed assistance, Jesse was there.  When a complaint is made against the police, Jesse is there.  When it looks like one person's grief could bolster his own image, Jesse is there.  When the spotlight is lit, Jesse is there.  When money plays more of a factor than race, you better believe Jesse will be there.  Where has Jesse been for the average black person?

What has Jesse Jackson done in the past twenty years to improve the living conditions and status of African Americans?  He has only improved his status and wealth.  He has alienated his own people for the political pulpit.

Jesse, you are a reverend.  Your conduct is unbecoming a man of the cloth.  You are better than this, but since you decide to conduct yourself in such a manner, you are no better than Jerry Falwell.

    This is what you said:

"See, Barack's been, ahh, talking down to black people on this faith-based... I want to cut his nuts off... Barack, he's talking down to black people."

    This is your apology:

"For any harm or hurt that this hot mic private conversation may have caused, I apologize... My support for Sen. Obama's campaign is wide, deep and unequivocal."

So very nice, Jesse, but where are your apologies for calling Jews "Hymies," or saying that you are "sick of hearing about the Holocaust?"

It's time for you to take a good, long look at yourself in the mirror, and ask "Where has my relevance gone?"  Maybe then you can gain it back and help those you sought out to help more than four decades ago.
