All-time favorite games |
Cold Winter
I decided if I have to choose an all-time favorite game (it's difficult, in case you couldn't tell by my previous post), I'd have to select Cold Winter. This PS2 exclusive title had probably the best story I've ever experienced in a videogame, some of the best -- if not the best -- AI I've encountered (it even takes cover when reloading!), high environmental interactivity (including tipping over tables for cover), high production values and spot-on gameplay that delivers the goods, not to mention visceral carnage in your wake. All this resulted in an all-around top-notch experience, but the story was what was so memorable. Without giving away the farm, the story is a suspenseful, tragic spy thriller. It's alternately fascinating, chilling and shocking. Probably the most gripping and emotional game I've played. An all-around classic.
