    Human Health Foundation: opportunities for the Italian research

     


    Some years ago two professionals coming from completely different areas of work met and talked a lot, thus creating a completely innovative project in the Italian scientific scenario, the HHF-Human Health Foundation.
    We are talking about the President of the Banca Popolare di Spoleto Giovannino Antoninini and Professor Antonio Giordano, President and Founder of the Sbarro Health Research Organization and a 'Chiara fama' Professor in the Department of Pathology & Oncology at the University of Siena, in Siena, Italy.
    On June 2006  there was the foundation of this non-profit organization for research, and since then several works have already been published with great international attention (on FASEB recently) in the scientific community.
    On Monday, June 7 at 17:30 will be opened in Terni, in the location Maratta (via Bartocci 9 / B),  the Institute of Biosciences of the Human Health Human Health Foundation of Spoleto (HHF), Foundation for Human Health, based in Spoleto and Terni.
    "The trial - said the President of the Scientific Committee of the HHF Antonio Giordano -"is to fill up the gap between the structures of Health and Research in the North of Italy with those in the Centre-South area. Concretely, this will result in new job opportunities for young researchers, even for the so-called brain drain, in an independent  ambient able to establish fruitful collaborations with several academic reality in Italy, as La Sapienza or La Cattolica University in Rome, or the Second University of the Studies of Naples.
    Thanks again to President Antonini who from the first day  believed  in this project which we begin to appreciate the first results".
    The Institute of Human Sciences of Health, will study breast cancer, brain and lung. There will be developed basic research to the testing of drugs for cancer treatment.

    Further research will be addressed to the discovery of muscle regeneration mechanisms.
    Together with the President John Antonini and to Prof. Antonio Giordano speakers, Chairman of the Scientific Board, Leopoldo Di Girolamo Mayor of Terni, Bishop Vincenzo Paglia, Bishop of the Diocese of Terni, Narni, Amelia, Catiuscia Marini President of the Umbria Region, Giuseppe Pizza Secretary of State for Education, University and Scientific Research and Ignazio Marino, President of Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry on the effectiveness and efficiency of the NHS.
