    Rescue on Fractalus

Rescue on Fractalus was one of the first two offerings from Lucas Arts released in 1984.

This was an innovative game in several ways, it was a first person shooter that used fractal graphics to simulate a 3D world.  The 3D fractal graphics provided a good 3D terrain with endless variety.  The game had effects that were previously thought impossible.  Remember, this ran on a 48K computer running at 2 MHz (Atari 800)

There were versions for numerous platforms including Commodore and Atari.

The object of the game was to fly around and rescue downed pilots.

One of the best things in the game was a situation where an enemy pilot tried to fool you.  If you didn't recognize him and tried to rescue him, he would suddenly appear in your face accompanied by alarming sounds.

The most fun I had with this game was watching friends play and get caught by the alien.  Everyone would be so surprised they would jump and actually come off their chair.
