Day 53-Perdido Key-Orange Beach
Day 53, the cleanup efforts along the Perdido Key-Orange Beach coast is in high gear now. Much more organized and more assets are deployed. Crews were on almost every beach access I visited, or was just finishing, getting ready to board buses.
At the same time, there were more of the normal beach activities going on, families enjoyed the sun and sand, a beach wedding being set up. Even with a boom laying barge close by.
Access to the Perdido Pass - Gulf State Park entrance was restricted to cleanup crews. A barge had been moved into position directly behind the Park Shelters.on the south side of Perdido Pass Bridge.
There were 2 other barges located on the west side at the mouth of Perdido Pass.
In Bayou St.John at Boggy Point Marina, workers were laying white lines of material to soak up the oil which had breached the booms.
