CNN PRODUCER NOTE     About the Nash Metro, madmurph told me, 'The flame job on this little number is worth the view alone.'
    - hhanks, CNN iReport producer

15th Annual San Clemente Car Show ~ Thousands of auto aficionados thronged to downtown San Clemente to oogle and drool over the 300 custom, classic, hot rods, and sports cars on display under the brilliant beach town sun this past weekend. Car lovers of all ages were treated to everything from early era Model T’s, custom rods and trucks, to modern day electric cars and Indy racers which lined both sides of beautiful Avenida del Mar. There were Mercedes Benz Gullwings worth as much as a house and a Nash Metropolitan stuffed full of supercharged Hemi motor that roared to life to the pleasure of onlookers – the motor is almost as big as the car. As a side note: The “Metro” does the 1/8 mile in 4.3 seconds and 151 miles per hour; zero to 60 in about a second! Hear it roar on this video. For the surfer crowd, there was a gathering of classic “Woodies”, complete with surfboards and stickers, and an ample supply of Ferraris, Porsches, and Corvettes, for the sporty set. Plenty of ’50’s Chevy nostalgia, too – the Good Humor truck even showed, selling frozen delights from a restored 1951 Chevy pick up, the vendors in era garb. It was truly a great day to take a trip back down memory lane.
