Track the oil disaster |
Captiva Island Beach is All Clear
June 24 --- The beaches of Sanibel and Captiva are clean of oil and the water remains crystal clear.
The oil spill is hundreds of miles away from the Southwest Florida islands and it is unlikely that they will even be affected due to the Gulf stream current complicating the spread of the oil. From this eyewitness view, the beaches remain unspoiled and wildlife has not been affected as of yet.
As of now, visitors continue to flock to Sanibel and Captiva for summer vacations, and to enjoy the sunshine and clean, shell-covered beaches.
