This iReport is part of an assignment:
Track the oil disaster |
Solutions for the Gulf Disaster..There are none.
The other day Anderson was commenting how difficult it was to cover the damage and the recovery efforts along the Louisiana coast. What are the reasons for the block?
The efforts by BP are all cosmetic, that is, help con the tourist’s and make us all feel that "something is being done". The damage is beyond repair, the loss of sea life will take hundreds, if not thousands, of years to recover. The first hurricane that hits Louisiana will spread the oil inland 100+ miles through high winds, and the beaches will be covered completely again...that means that all our recovery efforts will be in vain.
BP is trying to hide this hard, cold reality, fearing a severe backlash from the public, and will continue to lie. BP's major concern is to save as much of the oil as possible, not protect the environment. The Government should take the whole operation over immediately, and throw the BP managers and Board of Directors in Jail. They are reluctant to do so because they know there is no real solution. The best we can do is pick up a small amount of oil (useless as long as oil keeps gushing out) and the danger is that our solutions (Spraying and bacteria release) may only add to the damage. The spraying is poisonous to life, including ours. The bacteria attacks may spin out of control and end up attacking other things as bacteria can mutate very easily. The reality is that we have killed the Gulf of Mexico, and we can only hope that it has not killed us all.
