Bortolo (94 years old) meets his mother-in -law (103)

When Francesca, the eldest of Bortolo's five daughters, told me that he and his mother-in law were going to meet, I was thrilled. During my years as a photojournalist I have never stumbled upon a story so simple yet so incredible: A man 94 years old, capable of riding his old bycicle to the local church every morning,or to grow tomatoes, green peppers, and broccoli in his back yard, never idle with all his wits who had five daughters...was going to meet his mother-in-law, now 103 years old and just a month away from turning the 104th candle on her cake into reality.. I thought to myself that this must be the ONLY MAN ON EARTH to be almost a hundred with his mother in law still alive so I started to ask around but nobody as come up yet to claim the prize, and I must confess that I am still thrilled to know that he could be ONE OF A KIND of an estinguishig species. So out I went with my digital camera to shoot the event. They met, they talked as good old friend, they exchanged jokes, and tips for a good health. When Bortolo left he told Maria that they should meet in about five years again...everyone laughed. Going home I thought of the assignments I have had during my reporter's life, but I still value this one as one of the best. At least the one who gave me strong emotions and a sense of appreciation for the beauties of life. http://piodalcin.wordpress.com
