    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     seawitch1261 said that the city of D'Iberville did research to decide which boom would be the most effective in protecting the marshes and bayous.

    D'Iberville Mississippi  is a small town on Biloxi's Back Bay.  There are marshes and bayous.  D'Iberville is the first city to deploy Biofilter boom.  This boom is made from recycled materials and is coated with microorganisms that can degrade oil.

     

    I took these photos yesterday.  The workers were placing poles to hold the boom in place.  I asked when the boom would be placed and was told it probably wouldn't be until next week, after Tropical Storm Bonnie passes through.
