I have to admit, I have been anxious to see this movie for months now. I was beside myself with excitement last night for the midnight showing (even driving a half hour out of my way because the theater closest to me was sold out). That exitement was laced with a small bit of fear that the movie would not meet my expectations.

I need not have worried.

This movie is pure cinema brilliance. The performances are superb. Christian Bale is probably one of the most solid Batman's since Michael Keaton (and he surpasses him in pretty much every way). Gary Oldman brings in a wonderful performance as Gordon (you can never go wrong with Oldman, he is almost always perfection in any of his roles) and of course, Heath Ledger.

What can I say about Heath Ledger?

So much has already been said. I always loved him as an actor, he was always powerful and committed to the roles 200%. As The Joker...well, he is just awe inspiring. Every single time he was on the screen he stole the show. He was funny and terrifyingly creepy. If people go to see this film because of morbid curiosity they will be witnessing one of THE BEST performances in cinematic history. Pure Genius.

The Dark Knight is amazing, its brave, brilliant, brawny and beautiful. Its everything movies should be and if you get the chance to check it out in the theaters I say go for it, its worth every penny and more.
