Socialism vs Communism - What's the Diff?

You seen it over and over again.... Obama's a socialist, Obama's a communist, and a Muslem simpathizer, but have you noticed most Americans don't know the difference between communism and socialism.  The whole mess reminds of jay Leno's segment know as "Jay Walking" where he'd ask Americans questions any American citizen should easily answer like, "Who face is on a dollar bill?"  A school teacher that answered the question wrong then made the excuse she didn't get to see many of those dollar bills.  I wonder what they were paying her salary in?  It is amazing that most Americans are ignorant of the fact that America has been a blend of socialism and capitalism for sometime.  However with teachers in our educational system like the one mentioned above maybe American education is worse off than we originally thought, and many can't even pickup a dictionary and read which would explain the lack of understanding the difference between socialism vs communism.  It could be that lack of understanding the difference between the two ideals is why such programs like Social Security gets called and "entitlement program" that must be cut despite the fact that we paid for it, or is the capitalistic idea of getting what you paid for and "entitled" to a socialistic communist plot meant to bring down the capitalistic empire of the United States of America?
