Salute to troops |
Honoring his Son by going to Iraq.. Part 2
Continuing from the first Video which is still #1 in views on "Salute to Troops" at 84,988 after being featured on CNN on 4/2/2010...
Herb & Bobbie Samme never thought they would lose their son in Iraq.. In the 4 years since his death they have BOTH gave back 200%. Herb Samme is currently on R&R after being in Iraq in honor of his son. On Friday July 30th I was able to sit down with Herb before he was returning to Iraq the next day- Tomorrow..
He spoke about being able to be where his son lived, ate and slept. Herb felt touched to be able to speak to a Man that was there on that dreadful day when Eric lost his life in 2006.
Herb also spoke about WHAT happened on the Very First Mission he went on where he was shot at by an Iraqi with a machine gun after an IED went off during a convoy.. He talked about what he saw, the experiences forever in his mind.. He also spoke the 50 Caliber Military Weapons that saved his life... also he spoke about what he thought about the weapons we have..
This was a heart wrenching interview because Herb was on the Very First Mission I took part in with the Michigan Patriot Guard.. Because of that ride I was able to learn about Eric's Story...
4 months ago I sat down with Herb Samme's wife, right after Herb left for training. She explained about how Herb was able to fullfill his mission to go to Iraq to finish his son's Tour of Duty.. His dream and goal was to be in Iraq for his son's 4 year anniversary- http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-425985
Herb will be in Iraq for the next 4 months, we can not discuss where in Iraq he is or who he is working for due to National Security and the safety of his fellow workers..
Herb Samme was relaxing before he had to return back to Iraq on Saturday, July 31st..
IF YOU SEE THE LOVING FATHER -
PLEASE STOP AND THANK HIM-
HELP KEEP ERIC'S MEMORY ALIVE.
Please visit this website which has been set up in Eric's death. This is what keeps these parents going..
