On Monday August 9th, human remains were found in Malibu Canyon. In treacherous terrain a skull and bones were discovered by park rangers looking for Marijuana groves. Search and rescue teams, homicide investigators, and deputies were all at the scene. Steve Whitmore Spokesman for the L.A. Sheriffs dept. was there as well.
The body was so badly decomposed that the rangers were unable to determine the gender. They will now attempt to gain identity through dental records. The gender could be determined as early as today, but it could be many days, even weeks before the body will be identified.
Mitrice Richardson's family immediately went to the crime scene as well as Pam Perryman, whose husband Timothy went missing 6 years ago.
Pam Perryman's husband went for a hike and did not return. Pam said,"In a way I hope it is him and in a way I hope it's not" clearly grief striken.
Mitrice Richardson disappeared on Sept 17th, 2009, after being released from the Lost Hills Sheriffs Station at approximately 1am., without transportation, a cell phone, or any type of identification. Mitirce was charged with 'Failure to pay an Inn Keeper' after she was unable to pay her bill at Geoffrey's Restaurant in Malibu.
There have been possible sightings of women appearing to have similar features as Mitrice throughout Los Angeles and Las Vegas. Recently a search was held in Las Vegas. Latice Sutton does not believe her daughter is in Las Vegas but does believe she is somewhere in the Malibu Canyon area... "Mother's instinct" she says.
After the remains were airlifted to the coroners office the family continued on toThe Malibu Sheriff's Station where an incident briefing was held.
The two families untied in their grief. They consoled one another with compassion and empathy... each understanding the unbearable torment of a missing family member. The pain continues daily... each wanting to finally have closure and end the agony yet still wanting to hold out hope that their loved one might be alive. The wait continues
