    Exploding Perseid Meteor


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Shooting with 5 second exposures at 24 frames per second, LensLord condenses 2 hours of star gazing into 45 seconds of video. Pay attention to a flash around 36 seconds into the video. Though it lasts for only a moment, in real time this was about a 2 minute explosion. He has gone to see the shower frequently throughout the years, but in all this time he says he has never seen and explosion like the one he captured this night.

    I have never seen a meteor explode before. In this video, starting at the 36 second mark and continuing for about 5 seconds, you can see a meteor explode, and watch the expanding gasses.
