While the speech was a good speech that would be appreciated by most on reflection I think the fact that President Obama gave kudos to President Bush implicitly legitimizes the Iraq war. It was imperative that as President he shows the ultimate commitment that we must have to our soldiers. He did that well. As a communicator he failed to articulate sufficiently that our modus operandi will be different going forward in every way.
