    My Hero Nathan Nakis

    Nathan was the real deal. Eagle Scout, Caring Soldier, and great son.

    I was lucky enough to serve and be served by him.

    Nathan and I were new to Detachment One, Bravo Company, 52nd Engineers. It was also our first and only weekend drill with this National Guard Unit. A drill that ended 10 months later instead of 2 days. A drill ending in Nathans death.

    He is my hero.
