    At the end of summer the celebration of the "Apfelfest"

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     pivatana says the Oktoberfest isn't such a big deal in western Germany, more so in southern Germany. In Moers, pivatana attended the Apfelfest which pays tribute to the importance of the apple crop.

    An iReport from the city of Moers, Germany, Sunday the

    19th of September.

    At the end of summer we celebrate in Moers the so called

    "Apfelfest" in the streets of our city. It is a mixture of a street

    festival, fleamarket, open Sunday sale and  funfair.

    Apfelfest means "Appleparty" because at the end of the summer the apples are harvested as an importent crop

    in our area.

    People have fun all day with music, snaks of all kind and

    lots to drink.
