    Libraries Will Survive

I work for the Central Rappahannock Regional Library in Fredericksburg, VA, and we have put together a video highlighting our hectic existence as public librarians under the crazy stresses induced by budget cuts. It was originally intended as a morale booster for our annual staff training day, but since being posted on YouTube 11 days ago we've gotten some great responses from librarians and library users and over 53,000 views.

The music video is also available by itself:

Both videos have been viewed a combined 53,000 times.

Since putting the video online, the response has been incredibly gratifying. We've heard from librarians and fans of literacy, it's posted on WIRED.com, foreign language sites, and of course library blogs. Hopefully this will promote awareness of how essential public libraries are and the threat to education and literacy posed by cuts to library budgets.
