FLORIDA'S GOVERNOR, HOUSE & SENATE "SELL OUT" TO THE INDIANS COSTING FLORIDIANS BILLIONS OF DOLLARS

    iReport —

What "encourgement" did the Republican Governor of Florida and his entire legislature have when they "sold out the state of Florida to the Seminole Indians?

Florida could have had 16,000 new jobs and billions of dollars in building permits and revenue and they turned it down for 200 million a year "pay off" from the Indians.

A few months ago the Las Vegas Giant, the Venetian sent representatives to Tallahassee to ask for permission to build two casinos, one in the Ft. Lauderdale area and one in the Tampa area.  Anyone that has seen the Venetian in Las Vegas knows the magnitude and phenomenal construction and decorating that is done in their casinos.

They are not just a gambling spot, but are an end resort tourist destination, and a large majority of the people that visit them are not even gamblers nor do they go into the casino.  It is built like an adult Disney Land with canals, gondolas, shopping, shows by the top entertainers of our time, nightclubs with music, etc.

Each casino would have employed approximately 8,000 people and the building industry would have been up and running again.  These people would need apartments to live in and houses to buy, so the housing industry would have started a climb up.  The draw of tourists would have been magnanimous thereby helping all the local businesses; car rentals, gas stations, grocery stores, beach concessions, clothing and shoe stores, resturants, etc. Florida is one of the ONLY places in the world that has warm weather, gorgeous beaches and is SAFE.  You do not have to worry about terrorists murdering you by blowing themselves up in the mall. !!!!!!

All of this growth and prosperity was stopped by the Republican Governor and his entire legislature.

You ask why?  The citizens were told that the Florida government had  made "such a deal" with the Indians and were getting a wooping 200 million a year pay off by the Indians that could go into the state's coffers. You see, the Indians are a separate nation and therefore do not pay taxes to anyone in Florida.  Of course they make Billions with their Casinos, all CASH and no accurate way to count it.  Everyone knows what a temptation "CASH" is.!!!!!

The Indians do not want competition and have had the Governor sign a contract that the lovely Governor will not allow any competition in the state.  Even the few local casinos that were voted in by the people and only allowed in existing paramutual establishments (racetracks, etc.) are banned from having full casino games.  And if the Governor's answer is that he had to protect the Florida Casinos, that is the biggest lie of all.  I am sure the Venetian and the few fledging Florida casinos would have been able to compromise on a plan that would have benefited all.

So the end of the story is that "someone" benefited greatly by this miscarriage of justice, but since they benefited in CASH, you cannot "follow the money trail" to get the bad guys.

There was NO vote by the people of Florida that this was O.K. for the government to do....most of them don't even know about it.

So Florida continues to be BROKE, continues jobless with thousands of homes in foreclosure and more going that way...and soon the landlords with rentals will follow.

A miscarriage of justice for the benefit of a few politicians...yes.  Can we do anything about it....of course not.

And this man wants to be a Florida Senator?  And the religious right who run the government can continue to lose jobs and their homes because "gambling is a sin."  So the Republican party is the religious right and is stopping growth in Florida.  It is time we elect the Democrats and get out of this pit we have been put into against our will.
