This iReport is part of an assignment:
Do your kids have a cell phone? |
No Cell for my kids!
I don't think a child should have a cell phone until they can properly take care of one.
My 11 year old step daughter came to our house recently with her camera phone and left it at the park.
Then lost it all together.
I think that makes her a little young to have a cell phone.
We have a home phone she is more than welcome to use in the event she feels she needs to call anyone.
Within one week her mother purchased her another cell phone.
I hope she leaves it at home next time.
I don't wish to be part of another home search.
As for it altering a child's brain development...I don't know.
I know I won't allow my children to have one until they are at least driving age.I don't allow them to use mine.
I don't use mine unless it's necessary :)
I watch some of the children in our neighborhood walk around like mindless zombies at 12 years of age, with a phone sticking off their heads, paying absolutely no attention the world around them.
Personally I would rather my children be playing with their friends instead of glued to a phone.
