    Black in Nebraska

I was excited to see this special coming on ~ However, the first night, I left disappointed. The only thing that stands out for me is the piece they did on the single mother with 5 kids. Now, I understand that, the baby daddies ain't there & should be but...they made it about her "struggle" and I'm sorry...ANY single person, Black, White, Mexican or Chinese, would more than likely....have a difficult time with 5 kiddos!

Yes, the daddies ain't around but...is this woman taking ANY responsiblity for her own situation? Especially dealing with men who obviously, were just about hittin' it and nothing more??  I can recognize the absense of black fathers in the home (there is one absent in mine...however I have ONE 12 year old son that I knew right away - would be tough raising alone!) That said, we as women, need to be protecting ourselves, and making better choices and then, learning from our mistakes!

I don't feel CNN shared ENOUGH about black women in America...we were just lumped in here and there....but night 2 was all about the Men...as if women don't have it as rough? Now, I realize CNN can't tackle ALL the issues in 2 nights but...I was disappointed. I live in Nebraska, some of the things I could relate to, some I could not. I was hoping more light would be shed on the actual DAILY struggles that black people do have. Not just introducing PRIVILAGED vs. POOR.... The middle class - "Me" - got skipped.

I would love to see a show about why so many black people choose to represent themselves in a poor light, and be okay with it ~ after SO MANY FOUGHT AND DIED FOR US TO BE TREATED EQUALLY!! I would love to see a show, simply dedicated to black men and women, and why it seems black on black relationships, are seemingly disappearing!

Why it seems that us black folks can't seem to find committment with each other! Why it seems respect for one another ... is going down the toilet! I'd love to see a show on the music industry, and why it appears that foul rap, is the way to go if you want to hit it rich and quick. Why it seems black people are steadily degrading & reducing each other to mere objects....I could go on and on but...bottom line is, I was disappointed in the show.
